The 3rd Annual Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa Holiday Market was held November 22, a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. We had hundreds of guests join us to browse the more than 50 Craftstravaganzaa vendors. From fine arts to fashion, visitors found an emphasis on recycled materials, local and green production methods, and often an edge to the work that sets it apart from what might be found at the traditional county fair.
For this years Holiday Craftstravaganzaa we added a Family Craft area, where we provided crafting supplies for the wee ones to make an ornament that was theirs to keep. The kids just loved crafting, and we loved to see their laughing smiling faces! The parking lot was covered with glitter at the end of the day, but we think that is a good thing. The world definitely needs more sparkle.
Our silent auction to benefit the
liver transplant fund of 12 year old Olivia Grace was a success. We raised over $700 to help with King family with their ongoing medical expenses for Olivia. They drove in from Flowery Branch to spend the day with us. If you would like to keep up with Olivia, please visit her journal at Caring Bridge .
DJ KurtWood provided the soundtrack for the day, spinning his renowned collection of 50s and 60s Soul, R&B and Garage 45s. The music area provided a fun diversion for some, they were dancing and having fun.
Thanks for coming out and supporting this community event as well as your local craftspeople and artisans, Happy Holidays and we look forward to seeing you in the Spring!
